Brief History:

Holy Archangel Michael Church at Ketti, Ooty was established in the early 1900s through missionary efforts among the Badaga tribal community. Rev. Fr. Jules Gudin arrived in 1914 and began preaching in surrounding villages, resulting in 18 conversions. The first baptism took place on February 15, 1914. A permanent church structure was built in 1917, and the current church was consecrated in 1933 by Bishop Tournaire. Rev. Fr. Edmund Perry, who served from 1930 to 1934, significantly developed the parish and is buried near the church. The congregation grew from 300 members in 1928 to its current strength of 298 families. The parish feast is celebrated on the last Sunday of September.
