Brief History:

Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Railway Colony, Erode was established in 1933 as a simple chapel when the railway colony was developed in the area, located about 3 kilometers from Erode on the Karur Road. The parish became independent in 1943 and the current structure was consecrated on February 11, 1943. A Calvary monument stands at the entrance of the church. Early parish priests including Rev. Fr. T. C. Adaikalam oversaw construction during the early years. The parish currently serves approximately 700 families and 37 associations. It also includes a branch church: Miraculous Child Jesus Church at Lakkapuram. The patronal feast is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
