Brief History:

Holy Sebastian Church at Rayanpatti, also known as Nalliyampatti, is a branch church under Holy Savior Church, Malayadipatti, in the Manapparai Deanery of the Trichy Diocese. The church venerates St. Sebastian as its patron saint. According to local records, circa 1800 AD a wooden cross shrine was established in the area. A carpenter from Kazhanivasalappatti who experienced stomach pain while traveling through the area recovered after prayer at the shrine, subsequently crafting the current statue. Development timeline: 1868 – thatched roof chapel constructed; 1923 – lime mortar church built with a large chariot for festival; 1996 – front platform added; 2000 – church renovated; 2002 – bell tower constructed. The parish serves approximately 300 families. The shrine reportedly facilitates miracles through St. Sebastian’s intercession.
