History

St. Anthony’s Church was originally a sub-station of the Belatanr parish. However, it became an independent parish in 1976. Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Murmu TOR served as one of the early parish priests. Later, Rev. Fr. John Hembrom became the first diocesan priest to serve the parish.

Furthermore, a new church building and a convent for the Holy Cross Sisters were constructed under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Jacob Thekkeparampil. The church was blessed on 22 October 1998. Over the years, the parish has continued to grow through the dedication of its priests and parishioners.

Today, the church serves nearly 800 Catholics from around 150 families across 23 villages. In addition to regular Holy Mass, the parish organizes catechism classes, feast celebrations, and community programs. Therefore, St. Anthony’s Church remains an important spiritual center for Catholics in the region.
