History

The church property was purchased from the Baptist Mission in 1954. Soon afterward, Fr. Alex Bombera TOR began missionary work in the area. Although his first residence was destroyed by fire after two years, the mission continued to grow steadily.

Meanwhile, Catholic families from nearby Nowadih also strengthened the parish community. Later, the Holy Family Sisters from Thrissur began their mission work on 10 February 1964. They contributed to education, pastoral ministry, and social service.

The present church building was blessed by Bishop Thomas Kozhimala on 27 June 2006. Today, the parish serves around 500 Catholics from nearly 100 families across 40 villages. Furthermore, St. Theresa’s Church has encouraged several religious vocations and continues to be an active center of Catholic faith in the region.
