Brief History:

The first contact with Nipania was made through a Christian Santhal working in Banka Block. Fr. Thomas Kozhimala did the pioneering work in Nipania going from the Bhagalpur Minor Seminary every week from 1986. In the meantime a small property was bought and a Primary School was constructed. Mass was conducted in a class room. Baptismal records show: Fr. Thomas Kozhimala (1990-96); Fr. Marianus Kisku (1996); Fr. Mathew Athikalam 1996; Fr. Chrisostom Besra (1997-2002); Fr. N. M. Thomas (2003-06); Fr. Samuel Murmu (2006- ). Total number of Catholics 375; families 70; villages 15. Distance from Bhagalpur via Banka 54 k.m.
