Brief History:

Holy Assumption Church at Pallapalayam was established in 1860 as an independent mission, separated from Karamathampatti. The current church structure was constructed in 1862 under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Joseph Louis Raphael. The church is known locally for the miraculous protection from plague in 1904 when the Lourdes statue was carried in procession around the parish, preventing the spread of disease. A significant 150th anniversary jubilee was celebrated in 2012 with infrastructure improvements including new boundary walls and renovated altars. The parish serves approximately 250 families. The feast of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated on August 15.
