Brief History:
Arur, formerly known as Purra Country through the seventeenth century, developed as a district headquarters with Christianity spreading across thirty villages. The parish was established as a new mission on July 11, 1979, under the leadership of Salem Bishop Michael Bosco Duraiswami, with Fr. Mario Rodashini appointed as founding parish priest. The current church building was constructed and consecrated on April 25, 1993. The parish supports several educational institutions and affiliated religious communities. The church serves 268 families and the feast is celebrated in the second week of June.
