St. Ignatius ChurchKrishnagiriPalaiyapettai, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
Parish Priest – Rev. Fr. Isaiah.

Brief History:

The church traces its origins to the British period when Krishnagiri was part of the Baramahal region. After British forces captured Baramahal from Tipu Sultan, Christians settled there from 1765 onwards. Military chaplains established a small chapel in 1792 honoring Saint Ignatius of Loyola for Christian soldiers. Following the British military’s 1832 departure, local Christians constructed a second church building. In 1925, Father Dominic rebuilt the church, consecrated on July 14, 1925. The structure was restored in 2008 under Father Madalaimuthu’s initiative and consecrated on August 13, 2017 by Bishop Lawrence Pius. The church is a branch of the Saint Fatima Shrine, Krishnagiri. The feast is celebrated on July 31st.
