Brief History:

The parish originated in 2001 when Rev. Fr. V. Selvaraj, as cathedral administrator, acquired land in Balakrishnapuram. A small chapel was built on February 18, 2001, honoring the Wonder Child Jesus. Weekly Thursday Masses were conducted with transportation provided for parishioners. Following Dindigul’s establishment as a new diocese in 2003, the chapel became associated with Kumaran Thirunagar. In 2006, when East Marianathapuram was elevated to parish status under the OMI congregation, Balakrishnapuram became its branch. The expanding congregation led to church expansion. On March 23, 2017, the enlarged church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Madurai and Bishop of Dindigul. The feast is celebrated in the second week of February on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
