Brief History:

Holy Carmel Mother Church, Murasancode, was formerly a branch of Maung Kuliam parish before becoming an independent parish in 1963. The village’s predominantly Catholic population centres around this sanctuary in the town. The parish has since developed satellite chapels in the surrounding areas of Palaiyam, Kannodu, and Komanvile. It serves approximately 350 families, and the feast of Our Lady of Carmel is celebrated over ten days in July.
