Brief History:

St. Francis Xavier Church, Senthurai, was founded in 1925 when Fr. Varghese, then pastor of Puducottai, established a tent chapel and conducted Christian outreach programmes. In 1927, under Fr. Ephraim Gomes of Midalam parish, a thatched structure was built as both a school and prayer space. The present church building was consecrated in 1976 and the parish became independent on August 20, 2013. The parish also maintains a Marian shrine at Theravilay and operates Holy Angels Higher Secondary School.
