Brief History:

St. Francis Xavier Church, Vengodu, is one of eight major mission stations established during the 1329 Kollam Diocese period, serving as a foundation for numerous other parishes across the region. Originally a small palm-thatched chapel dedicated to Mary, the congregation was later rededicated following St. Francis Xavier’s missionary work in India. By 1871 the parish encompassed approximately 4,000 Catholics across 22 villages. The present church structure was consecrated on April 5, 2013. The parish serves approximately 600 families across 19 associations.
