Brief History:

St. Paul Church, Mathar, was established when a local family, grateful for their son’s recovery from illness, donated land for a place of worship. A small crucifix was erected and blessed by then-Paduthurai parish priest Fr. Bellarmino Geo in the initial phase. The community constructed a thatched-roof chapel that was later replaced with an asbestos-roofed structure in 2004. The mission became a branch parish of St. Francis Xavier Church, Eratakode, in 1984 and serves approximately 90 families.
