Brief History:

Velankanni Mother Church, Annai Nagar, was established to serve residents of Iranipur, Palode, and Marikandom who found it difficult to travel to the distant Kallithattu Church. An initial thatched chapel was established on November 14, 1984, after land was acquired. The formal church structure was consecrated on September 1, 1995 by Fr. Eronymous, and the congregation subsequently grew to an independent parish. The parish serves approximately 227 families across 11 apostolic groups.
