Brief History:

The church originated in the Susaiappar Puram area where over 50 Christian families and members of other faiths settled. Communities initially engaged in tile-making and later gold-washing activities. The church was constructed with financial support gathered through community contributions and charitable donations. The small chapel underwent reconstruction in 1961-1968 under Rev. Fr. Adiakalam SJ. A benefactor named Robin Moin from Kerala constructed the current structure, dedicated in 1976. The Jesuit community continues guiding the annual feast celebrations. The church serves 100 families as a branch of Our Lady of Sorrows Cathedral, Kizhavaasal, Madurai. The feast is a 13-day festival beginning June 20 through the first week of July.
