Brief History:
Holy Vellankanni Mother Church in R.R. Nagar was consecrated on April 21, 2002, by Bishop Anthony Pappusamy. The church features a miracle chapel constructed in 1976, especially known for prayers for childless couples. The parish serves 500 families including branch parishes, with 19 active organizations including the Tamil Catholic Youth Movement, Mary’s Army, and Jesus’ Beloved Ones. Five branch churches serve communities in Kannisuriputtur, Muthalipatti, Kalpodu, O. Kovilpatti, and surrounding areas. The feast of Our Lady of Velankanni is celebrated from August 31 to September 9.
