Brief History:

St. George Syro-Malankara Catholic Church at Chellamkonam was founded in 1934 by Rev. Fr. Joseph Kuzhinjalil to serve the poor and illiterate community in the area. The original palm-leaf structure was blessed on September 30, 1934. The parish is situated in the Azhagiyamandapam Deanery of the Marthandam Diocese and currently serves 449 families with 15 religious vocations. A new church building was blessed on January 15, 2011, by Moran Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholicos. The parish feast is celebrated over a ten-day period from the last week of April through the first Sunday of May.
