Brief History:

St. Francis of Assisi Malankara Catholic Church at Peruvazhikadavu is a branch parish under Jesus Mary Sacred Heart Malankara Catholic Church, Seruppalur, in the Kulasekharam Deanery of the Marthandam Diocese. The Christian faith has been steadfastly present in the Peruvazhikadavu area for many years. Though the Catholic community is modest in size, the 30 families demonstrated strong devotion. Difficulties in transportation made accessing distant churches challenging, prompting community leaders to request a local place of worship. The bishop approved the initiative, and 21.25 cents of land were purchased to construct a small chapel dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. The church was consecrated on December 27, 2007, by Bishop Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom. The feast is celebrated during the first week of October.
