Brief History:

St. Joseph Malankara Catholic Church at Unnamalai Kadai was established through the efforts of Fr. Joseph Kuzhiyaniyalil and dedicated laity. Initially housed in a thatched structure, the church was formally consecrated by Bishop Benedict Mar Gregorios on October 10, 1960, with 50 converts receiving baptism on that day. The congregation expanded significantly over the following decades, leading to the construction of a new church building in 1967. A shrine, community center, bell tower, and priest’s residence were subsequently added through community collaboration. The parish currently serves 160 families and 8 religious sisters. The feast of St. Joseph is celebrated on May 1st.
