Brief History:

Christian communities from the coastal Bengal region migrated westward approximately 300 years ago, clearing forest lands in the mountainous Saveriarpalaiyam area and establishing settlements. The parish was named after Saint Francis Xavier. Initially part of Nayambadi, it became centered in Saveriarpalaiyam after the Kaveri River caused flooding. The original church foundation was laid in 1890, with the foundation stone for the current structure placed in 1910 and completed in 1924. The church transitioned from Mysore Diocese to the Salem Diocese in 1943. An RC Primary School was established in 1909. The parish serves 537 families, has seven sub-churches and chapels serving surrounding villages including Siluvaipalaiyam, Kaveripur, and Molapparai, and celebrates its feast on December 3.
