Brief History:

The community of Navamangalam originally belonged to Pattappalayam parish and migrated to the current location to establish farming settlements. The area developed into an agricultural hub cultivating nine crops, hence named ‘Nava’ (nine) + ‘Mangalam’ (prosperity). The original church began as a modest structure and was subsequently rebuilt with brick and tile construction. The current church structure was completed and consecrated on July 26, 2007, by former Salem Diocese Bishop Singarayyan. The congregation represents marginalized communities who have achieved significant educational and professional advancement over decades. The church serves 80 families as a branch of St. Xavier Church, Kosavampatti, with 4 religious sisters, and celebrates its feast on February 22 in honour of Saint Sebastian. Located 2 km from the Namakkal-Salem National Highway via Pudur Market. The parish belongs to the Salem Diocese. Read more about Saint Sebastian Church, Navamangalam.
