Brief History:

The community traces origins from migrants who settled from Thiruvaicundam, Kamanaickanpatti, and Vengatasalapuram. Prior to this church, villagers worshipped at Vengatasalapuram’s subsidiary shrine. In 1975, Fr. Singararayar established a small chapel dedicated to Sacred Heart of Jesus, consecrated January 19, 1975 by Palayamkottai’s first bishop, making it the first church consecrated after the diocese’s formation. When Vengatasalapuram became an independent parish in 2010, Karuppur became its branch parish. Under Fr. Alphonse’s leadership (2019 onwards), parishioners completed a new twin-towered church, consecrated January 15, 2021. The church serves 72 families and the feast is celebrated September 20-29.
