Brief History:

St. Susaiappar Church at T Melapatti is a branch parish under Holy Cross Mother Church, T. Nadupatti, Tirumalairayapuram, in the Kiranoor Deanery of the Trichy Diocese. The church was consecrated on December 28, 1990, by Bishop Thomas Fernando of Tiruchirappalli. A bell tower was added in 2006 and consecrated by Bishop Anthony Devotta. The parish serves approximately 80 families and 3 convents. The church is noted for its Holy Vallanaar Higher Secondary School, which achieved 100% pass rates in Class 10 for eight consecutive years. The feast is celebrated from April 23 (flag hoisting) through May 1 (main feast with Mass and community meal).
