Brief History:

The area earned its name from the tamarind groves, with three villages designated as North, Central, and South Aaru Puli. A small chapel was established approximately a century ago, dedicated to Holy Sandana Mother (Holy Ann), serving as the community’s spiritual center. The current structure was consecrated on January 8, 1992, and has since received several improvements including a prayer walk in 2015, additional facilities in 2017, and granite flooring in 2019. The church is located approximately 5 km from Valliyur on the Valliyur-Tiruchchendur road.
