Brief History:
Saint Anthony’s Church, Pillaiyarkulam, was established in 1927 when the local Catholic community built a simple palm-thatched chapel on the eastern side of the village. Dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, the chapel initially functioned as a mission station under Somnathaperi Parish. In 1950, following the establishment of Chintamani as an independent parish, the church came under its pastoral care. As the congregation expanded, a permanent stone church was constructed and solemnly blessed by Bishop Ambrose on June 21, 1977. Administrative changes in 1999 placed the church under the jurisdiction of C. Saveriarpuram Parish. After restoration and renovation works completed in 2006, the church continues to serve around 20 Catholic families, offering monthly Holy Mass, Sunday catechism classes, and regular parish activities that strengthen the faith of the local community.
