Brief History:
The parish was formally established in 1907 as an independent parish, with origins tracing back to the period between 1543-1545 when early Christian communities formed here. The foundation stone for the current large church was laid on August 13, 1910 and the church was consecrated on January 26, 1929 by the then Bishop of Tuticorin. The church measures 150 feet in length, 50 feet in width, with a tower height of 90 feet. The parish serves approximately 2,500 families across four churches including shrines dedicated to Saint Anthony and Our Lady of Velankanni.
