Brief History:
Around three centuries ago, a childless couple named Thommai Boopalaraya constructed a small shrine dedicated to St. Quiteria after experiencing miraculous intercession at Manakara, and their prayers were answered with a child through her patronage, establishing local devotion. Centuries later, when plague ravaged the village, St. Quiteria’s intercession brought deliverance, prompting residents to expand the modest structure into a full church in 1914. The feast is celebrated over ten days from May 13 to 22, with an evening procession on May 21 followed by a night vigil from 10:00 PM through to May 22 at 5:00 AM.
