Brief History:

The Catholic community of Chinnamadankudieruppu was established during the 1960s when local residents embraced the Christian faith and built a simple palm-leaf chapel for worship. Between 1961 and 1968, Rev. Fr. Ambroses provided pastoral care and nurtured the growing congregation. His successor, Rev. Fr. Sengolmani (1968–1970), promoted community development by providing housing and assistance to people regardless of caste or religion. Under his leadership, the chapel was later upgraded with a tiled roof, completed by 1978. Today, St. Anthony’s Church serves around 20 Catholic families as a branch of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Karungadal. The annual parish feast is celebrated over thirteen days, beginning with flag hoisting on the first Tuesday of May.
