History

Roman Catholic Church, Bhalua was originally part of the Chakai Parish. Later, the growing Catholic community led to the establishment of an independent parish in 1988.

Fr. Paul Kundorpally developed the mission by building the church, school, convent, and hostels. The church was blessed on 28 November 1988. Soon afterward, Fr. Thomas Kurungatt became the first resident parish priest. Later, Fr. Joachim Jacob and Fr. Joseph Mulloor continued the pastoral ministry and parish development.

Today, Bhalua Parish is part of the Jamui Deanery. It serves around 1,250 Catholics from approximately 155 families. In addition to regular worship, the parish supports faith formation, education, and community service. Therefore, it remains an active center of Catholic life in the Diocese of Bhagalpur.
