History
Roman Catholic Church, Manikbathan was originally part of Sundermur Parish. Later, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kunnupuram began developing the mission in 1996. As the Catholic community grew, the parish expanded its pastoral and spiritual activities.
Afterwards, the parish continued to grow under the leadership of its priests. A multipurpose hall was used for Sunday Holy Mass and other parish gatherings. In addition, the church became a center for prayer, catechism, and community life.
Today, the parish serves around 355 Catholics from nearly 70 families across 10 villages. Moreover, the mission continues to strengthen the faith of the local community through regular worship and parish programs. In 2004, the Poro mission was separated from Manikbathan to serve the growing Catholic population more effectively.
Therefore, Roman Catholic Church, Manikbathan remains an important center of Catholic faith and pastoral ministry in the Godda district.
