Brief History:
The Jesuit order established the first church at this location in 1600, naming it Crucifix Church due to its cross-shaped architecture. For approximately 400 years, this shrine has served fishing communities and bestowed grace to countless devotees across religious boundaries. The parish was officially established as independent in 1938. Six affiliated churches serve surrounding areas including Tirukkali, Aalvarthirunagari, and Swaminathapuram. The major 10-day feast is celebrated July 16-25, with a chariot procession on July 25.
