Brief History:

St. Anthony’s Church, Kallamozhi, was established following the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, which displaced many coastal families. As part of the rehabilitation efforts, the affected residents were resettled in Kallamozhi, where homes were constructed with the assistance of an Italian charitable organization. To provide for the spiritual needs of the growing Catholic community, a new church dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua was built and solemnly consecrated by Bishop Ivonn Ambrose on July 22, 2008. Located about 7 kilometres from Manapad, the parish today serves approximately 110 Catholic families. It also provides pastoral care to three branch churches: St. Anthony’s Church at Pathuvanagara Kulasekaram, St. Anne’s Church at Mangalapuram Kulasekaram, and Holy Mother of Health Church at Anukulapuram Kulasekaram. The annual parish feast is celebrated from January 14 to January 26 in honour of St. Anthony.
