Brief History:
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church traces its origins to 1939, when the missionary efforts of Rev. Gabriel Nader inspired nearly sixty families in Sivanthiapuram to embrace the Catholic faith. As the Christian community continued to grow, the foundation stone for a permanent church was laid in 1975 by Rev. Cedric Peris. Following the formation of Mannarpuram as an independent parish in 1982, Sivanthiapuram became one of its mission chapels. Construction of the present church was completed under the leadership of Rev. Raja Bose, and the church was solemnly consecrated in 1985. A spacious front vestibule was added in 1995 to accommodate the increasing number of devotees. Dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the church today serves around 40 Catholic families. The annual parish feast is celebrated over ten days during June, culminating on the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
