Brief History:

This shrine traces its origins to approximately 200 years ago when a thatched structure existed at the site. The church was subsequently rebuilt using brick and mortar as Holy Refuge Mother Church. Devotees historically venerated Saints James, Sebastian, Refuge Mother, and Anthony within this sanctuary. In 2008, a larger replacement church was constructed nearby and consecrated. Following a 2015 festival procession, local residents reported supernatural experiences suggesting the saint’s presence remained at the original location. A new dedicated shrine was subsequently built and consecrated on January 28, 2016. Since April 2016, the shrine has documented over 81 reported miraculous spring water manifestations attributed to Saint James’s intercession. The feast is celebrated on the fourth Friday evening and Saturday daytime in July each year.
