Brief History:

The village of Mariyanadhapuram developed under the leadership of Fr. Nambikainathan, with residents devoted to Mary. Initially under the St. Joseph Cathedral parish, locals recognized the need for their own church. After a temporary structure burned, a new church was constructed with community support. The foundation stone was laid in 1964 and the church was consecrated on August 14, 1989. The parish became independent in June 1982. The current altar, renovated in Gothic architectural style, was consecrated in 2013. The community actively supports welfare initiatives including a death assistance fund. The church serves 1,800 families and the feast is celebrated on August 15 (Assumption of Mary).
