Brief History:

The community traces its origins to the 18th century when eight Christian families settled in the region, engaging in palm-climbing and agricultural work. Originally worshipping at St. John the Baptist Church in Vadiyur, the growing population prompted establishment of a local chapel in 1915. The parish experienced significant development through successive pastoral leadership, culminating in construction of a modern building consecrated in 2009. The town was officially renamed Mariyathaipuram in 1963, honoring Mother Mary. The church serves approximately 400 families and the feast is celebrated August 6-16 with a grand procession. The church is a branch of St. John the Baptist Church, Vadiyur.
