Brief History:
Sacred Heart of Mary Church (Aarogyamatha Aalayam) at Theppakkulam, Karungukulam is a branch church under St. Ignatius Church, Karungukulam, in the Manapparai Deanery of the Trichy Diocese. Originally a small roadside chapel, the current structure was built through generous donations. The architectural design was inspired by the renowned Velankanni Shrine. The region has historically experienced severe water scarcity, and a local water discovery near the church is considered miraculous by the community. The site where water was found was developed into a scenic pond called Theppakkulam, with many devotees reporting wellness benefits from this water. The feast is celebrated over three days concluding on September 8th, preceded by a seven-day novena. The church is located approximately 0.5 km from the parent church in Karungukulam.
