Brief History:

The parish traces its origins to Rev. Fr. Henry Brunnier, who arrived from the Kumbakonam Diocese in December 1926 and established the Namakkal parish in 1927, initially residing in this region. In 1928, the Christ the King Church, Namakkal was formally recognized as patron. Rev. Fr. Brunnier constructed the first church building in Marappanayakkenpatti with assistance from Rev. Fr. Labanderre. By 1930, Rev. Fr. Brunnier was appointed as the inaugural bishop of the Salem Diocese and ordained at Pondicherry’s Sembark Cathedral. Subsequently, a tiled-roof structure replaced the original building. The church serves 40 families as a branch of Christ the King Church, Namakkal, and celebrates its feast in September in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
