Brief History:

Nallayan Church, Nallayanpuram, traces its roots to 1930 when a thatched hut served as a worship space for Tamil Christians in the Muvoottukoonam area. In 1952 two communities merged and a new church was constructed and named after Jesus as ‘Nallayan’ (Good Lord), completed by 1965. The church underwent major expansion in 2009, a crucifix shrine was constructed in 2012, and in 2017 the altar and side walls were enlarged. The gopuram (tower) and pillars blend Indian and Tamil architectural styles, reflecting Catholic interfaith harmony. The parish celebrates its feast on the fourth Sunday after Easter.
