Brief History:
The shrine was established in 1920 in Kosagulamvillage (now Ko. Pudur) by Fr. Antalin to serve the spiritual needs of local Christian families. The original small altar remains part of the current structure. In 1931, Fr. Gabriel Gomes expanded the church significantly. The parish became independent on September 9, 1951, separating from the Viyakula Mother Church, and received cathedral status on Christmas Eve 1960. The Salesians (SDB) took charge on September 24, 1975, marking a transformative period with expanded spiritual programs and infrastructure development. The parish serves 1,600 families with 49 sodalities. The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated over 10 days culminating on February 11.
