Brief History:

The Christian community in New Street, Mohanur had deep devotion to Saint Sebastian, prompting the establishment of a cross in 1998. Land was later acquired to construct a permanent place of worship. After facing legal challenges from various groups, the church foundation stone was laid and the structure was completed and consecrated on October 10, 2017, by former Salem Bishop C. Singarayane. The parish serves 40 families as a branch of Saint Cecilia Church, RC Pattappalayam, located 18 km from Namakkal. The parish belongs to the Salem Diocese.
