Brief History:

The congregation in Maniyannur began with Mass celebrated in a classroom of the local school attached to Holy Lourdes Mother Church, Perungurichi. Under Rev. Fr. Maria Rodesini’s initiative (1995-2004) to establish churches in nine different villages, Maniyannur was selected as one location. With assistance from Fr. M. S. Martin (2004-2006), the church was constructed and dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. It was consecrated on February 8, 2005. A Lourdes Mother chapel was later constructed and consecrated on December 25, 2017. The church serves 33 families as a branch of Holy Lourdes Mother Church, Perungurichi, and celebrates its feast on December 25. Located 7 km from Perungurichi on the road to Tiruchchengode.
