Brief History:
The Carmel Child Jesus Shrine in Tanjore was established by Carmelite Order monks devoted to Our Lady of Carmel and the Child Jesus. For over 35 years, weekly Thursday novena prayers to the Child Jesus have been conducted, attracting over 3,000 devotees weekly and more than 5,000 on the first Thursday of each month. The shrine is renowned as a place of grace where the faithful seek spiritual intercession. The annual feast is celebrated from late January through the first Thursday of February with a grand procession.
