Brief History:

St. Susaiappar Church, Perumbannayur, is a magnificent European-style landmark whose foundation stone was laid in April 1872 by local benefactor Chinnu Udayar. Construction was completed by 1885, and the church stands 153 feet tall, spanning approximately 35,000 square feet. A distinctive feature is its 2,000-kilogram bell imported from Paris, which requires three people to ring and whose sound carries approximately five kilometres. The parish serves 450 Catholic families and celebrates a ten-day feast in May beginning on the second Friday after Easter.
