Church Established – 1837.

Brief History:

St. Anthony’s Shrine, Kogur, was established in 1837 following a remarkable event in which an elderly fisherman discovered a statue of Saint Anthony floating in the Vettar River. According to local accounts, the statue repeatedly returned to his fishing net when he attempted to discard it, and a divine vision directed the community to build a shrine at Kogur. A thatched chapel was initially constructed where the statue was installed for veneration. The shrine has since become renowned for the many graces attributed to St. Anthony’s intercession, and the annual feast in June features processions and ceremonial river immersions.
