Brief History:

The parish originated in 1972 when Fr. Zacharias Kayat and Fr. Thomas Muttathukkunnel began pastoral work in the Mangarai region. Initially conducted in a rented space with a thatched roof, the community was dedicated to St. James, one of the principal apostles of Jesus. The parish established a school system expanding from kindergarten (1973) to high school (1990), now serving approximately 650 students. The parish comprises approximately 200 families organised into eight associations and operates educational and social welfare programmes.
