Brief History:
The Catholic community at Venkatrayapuram traces its origins to 1861. In 1878, Fr. Danish Cushion worked to strengthen the faith, leading 28 additional families to embrace Catholicism. Fr. Danish Cushion purchased 14 acres and 26 cents of land in December 1878, establishing a foundation for community development. The original small church built in 1880 remains as the sanctuary’s base platform today. The parish transitioned through various ecclesiastical structures before becoming part of Nedungulam Parish in 1984, with the feast celebrated annually on August 16 in honor of the Assumption of Mary.
