Brief History:
The village name derives from millet cultivation and water irrigation using palm-thatched wells. Originally served by Portuguese missionaries from 1890 to 1913, the parish was formally established in 1924 under Rev. Xavier Gabriel. The present new church was beautifully constructed and consecrated on May 22, 2010, by Bishop Ivan Ambrose. The community numbers 240 families with five religious vocations. The shrine features statues of St. Salette and the children to whom she appeared, reflecting strong community devotion to this Marian apparition.
