Brief History:

A Christian family from Duraikkudiyiruppu relocated to this area during the 1860s for palm cultivation work. From 1860 to 1982, Mettukkudiyiruppu had neither a church nor dedicated land, so residents relied on the nearby Nedukulam Church. The settlement experienced significant decline after 1920 due to plague and severe drought, with many families dispersing to other regions. After repeated failed attempts to build a church, land was finally acquired in 1982 and a palm-thatched structure was dedicated to Holy Mother of Health. A permanent brick structure was erected in 1986 and consecrated on January 31, 1987. The parish currently serves 15 families.
